It may not be regular Sunday morning reading for the nation but Image Reports Magazine is a respected trade publication for large format print and display professionals.

The September issue front page features a stand built by one of our systems partners at the Lisbon Tourism Trade Fair. The stand is built around T3 Airframe, and is interesting for its use of large backlit areas throughout and the speedy turnaround time afforded by the modular build method.

Bell Stone are one of the frontrunners in designing for the new breed of fabric systems and their Managing Director, Oliver Bell was asked to write about the challenges involved. Below is an excerpt from the article;

"My first projects using textile graphics involved stretching them over MDF panels or a timber frame. Moving to a modular aluminium framework was a natural progression and opened up the possibilities for adaptive design where the communication layer (the textile skin) changes to suit the audience and the structural skeleton can be reconfigured according to the space available."

"We developed the EZ ModularTM System largely because of the incredible versatility it offers. We also like the no-nonsense way it goes together and the neat way the aluminium frame almost disappears once the graphics are applied. There is definitely a speed benefit with the assembly too which is important in the trade show and retail environments we work in."

"In practical terms this means we are now designing display environments that can be adapted to any number of changing conditions. A 12m x 6m stand we built in Las Vegas in April will, next month, look very different on a 9m x 5m footprint at a trade show in Amsterdam. Eventually, after several events around Europe and Asia, parts of the same kit will be used to construct a corporate reception display. That kind of versatility would be virtually impossible with anything other than a textile graphic surface over a modular framing system."
